Receipts for furnishings in the General Assembly chambers at the Tuscaloosa Capitol, 1837.

This series consists of two receipts issued to James Ratner by the doorkeepers of the House and Senate and deposited with the comptroller of public accounts. Ratner was charged with the responsibility for the safekeeping of the furnishings of the general assembly while it was not in session. The receipts provide an item inventory of the House and Senate chambers from the state capitol in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The comptroller was renamed state auditor in 1868.
